video shoot 5 band performance

In the second band performance shoot , we carried on with us perfomaning but in the second verse.

This verse had singing and a guitar solo we. Again we took the same process as before and Filmed everyone individually and together from different angels to ensure we had enough footage. We wanted to stick to Godwins theory of visuals and music and applied this through the singing and the instruments being played at the same time. We didn't want the same shots as before as we done some more from different angles and technique such as out focusing and focusing in.
In addition we created our own dolley through using this wooden platform with wheels as our dolley so we could push it around and get some good shots. We used this for the guitar solo as we came in on Charlie playing the guitar and then coming back round to the rest of the band. This idea was brilliant as we would now do different shots we couldn't do before and the camera would be kept still. We used this to our advantage and used it on the lead singer by doing a 180
Degerees movement around him.

Instruments:
Guitar
Base
Microphone
Drums

Costume:
White tees
Shirts
Skinny jeans
Tattoes

Equipmetemt:

Woden platform with wheels as a dolly

Overall I am happy with this as with the addition of the dolly enabled to use to use a more range of different techniques making our music video more exciting which it should be. In addition we followed the conventions of our genre and god wins thoery. Once editing we our hoping the results are really good.

Editing the video Transformation scene

For our transformation scene , we edited this is in final cut pro. We want the transformation scene to be quick and easy for the audience to see so we applied the cross fade effect like shown in the image. This is to show the transformation in age from the young charlie to the older charlie and again made the video black and white as that is a theme throughout.

Second draft of digi pack

front cover of special edition box

This is my front cover so far for my box. The reason I am making a box is for the digi pack to be stored in. I want my digi pack to be special to my fans just like other indie bands have done such as kasier chiefs and nirvana. I wanted to do the same and make it feel that special. In addition , just like the liberteens , i wanted to take the idea of having a strong meaning of the image of the cover and have a strong image here of these photos are documenting the progress of creating and putting together the music video and digi pack . Creating a bond between the audience and digi pak , making it feel like a collators item and special to the individual.

video shoot 6 fight scene

This shoot was for the fight scene and was a challenging piece to do and very time consuming and planning. We firstly planned a list of the essentials we need for the blood for the music video so it makes it look rough and realistic. We went shopping and got golden syrup and red food dye , water , spoons and bowels.

On the day of the filming we arrived early in the morning to corohprpah the fight scene. Take it through step by step from the entrance to the end as when edited , it all needs to fit toghether which can be challenging as we will be using a lot of different shots so it needs to work. Some images above show matt and Charlie corographing the fight scene.
Once the corohprpahing was done and we decided it worked and was happy we started to film. We started from the entrance of Charlie and then from the boys entrance. We wanted the fight scene not to look set up and look as of they just dumped into each-other. Charlie had to be betrayed as the underdog so he was by himself , looking vunrable due to the beging of the music video he was getting bullied by the same person when they was younger. We choose the outfit of matt ( bully) to be black to portray him as the villain and Charlie in grey/white as the hero.
We did find it difficult through out the filming as due to it being a public place , people was walking past now and then.
When entered we wanted the fight to take place under the bridge but due to lighting difficulties we couldn't do this as it was to dark so we changed it to the be done just outside the bridge.
The underpass/ bridge worked well as this gives a indication of the working class background of the characters and the type of are he was brought up in , the underpass looked scary and run down which made it a perfect location for a fight scene to take place.

To ensure the audience new the bully was the same person when they was younger , we ensured they wore similar clothing from when they was younger to make it clear but also we used rigid collideon to put a scar on his face. We used an exteme close up on the face for this scene so you can clearly see it and we will do it again for the flash back at the begining. We also used the same location too and actors which slightly look alike.

Location:
Underpass/ bridge

Characters
Charlie : older Charlie
Matt : bully
Daniel: bullies friends
Liam : bullies friends
Charlie: camera man
Harry: camera man

Props:
Syrup
Reds food dye
Water ( all used for fake blood)
Rigid collideon( for the scar)

Equipment:
DSLR
Tri pod

Overall we ensure we made this perfect by doing the corohprpahing which I del payed off as this enabled us to get a rough idea and go in not all guns blazing. That plan structure is what made I that more professional and realistic and easier to edit later in. We feel the location was perfect and represented the image of the working class background well and the clothing and scar represented the characters  well. The shots we used too enabled us to show Charlie as the dominant and powerful through low angles and matt as the weak character through high angels. We feel this scene was planned and came out perfectly

Video Shoot 4 (gym scene)

This week we had a schedule in to film the gym scene.

The footage
In this scene , Charlie (younger)would
Be training by using a punch bag and Press ups . We also filmed (Charlie ) older version on the punch bag, press ups and weight training.

Location
The location of the gym is in the back garden garage of Charlie's house. This location worked well due to it fits in with the working class background of how Charlie got brought up. He never went to an actual gym centre , just trained in his garage. The inside of the garage worked well as it had all thenessentials that would of been in their such as boxing bag , weights , pads gloves ect. But also some junk in the background which adds to the working class background , we couldn't move the stuff anyway so we had to work with what we had.

Change of plan
During the video shoot we believed that this could be the perfect time to do the transformation scene. This is because of we had to change how we done the transformation scene because we couldn't get the equipment we needed such as a steady cam or trolley. This essentials where needed but we couldn't get them so we thought thets just use the boxing bag and edit it in photoshop to change and show the older version of Charlie boxing instead.

Props
Punch bag
Weights
Boxing gloves

Costume
Grey tracksuit

Roles
Freddie (1st generation)
Charlie ( 2ng generation )

Harry(camera man)
Daniel(camera man)
Charlie ( camera man)

Equiptment:

Tripod
DSLR

Overall from the footage I have seen I feel we have done well with the surrounding we had. We had little room to move round which we found challenging but we done the best we could. We got enough footage to cover both generations of Charlie and used a range of different activities to ensure we had enough such as weights , press ups ect to use incase something don't work. The lighting was fine due to luckily the light was directly below so when changing to black and white their shouldn't be a problem. In addition , it is revealing to get one of the main scenes done , the transformation scene of first generation Charlie to the older version. This was a main part of our Music video so we needed it look clear that they are the same person and done this by wearing the same colour clothes and same tracksuit type. We need to see what it looks in editing to clips together but I feel like it should work well.

Photos

As you can see from the photos below this shows the location we was using and shows the actions and equipmetemt and props we we was using too.

Video Shoot 2: Streets

Second Video Shoot:

Today we filmed our second video session for our music video. In the second video shoot the scene involved Charlie (3rd transformation ) and Frankie ( 1st transformation)

Location:

We used a number of different locations during this filming shoot. We filmed at Bostell heath in Welling and at some garages in Welling. At Bostell heath , we filmed some boxing/training scenes which involved Frankie punching on the pads.

Furthermore we done some training scenes involving running where Frankie is running down the streets and garages. We also done this with Charlie.

Equipment:

The equipment we used was the following:

  • A Tri Pod
  • A DSLR 600 camera

Roles:

Charlie: Actor
Frankie: Actor
Daniel: Camera man
Harry: Camera man
Charlie: Camera man

Props:

Boxing pads
Boxing gloves
Car

Costume:

The costume we used was the same for Charlie and Frankie , a grey tracksuit. We wanted it to look simple for the audience to understand that Charlie is a grown up version of Frankie.

Review:

Overall , the filming session went well. We adapted to the equipment we had and took advantage of having a car so we filmed some moving shots and using the mirrors of the car to film in to make it look interesting and engaging for the audience. In addition , we used interesting locations and locations that look working class so it adds to the working class family feel that Charlie has been brought up in.
